Healing the Physical and Emotional Roots of Pain

True relief begins when we treat the whole person.

If you’re dealing with pain that isn’t going away—or seems to have no clear cause—you’re not imagining things. Pain is very real. But what many don’t realize is that pain has both physical and emotional components, and both need to be addressed for long-term relief.

Understanding the Two Sides of Pain

🔹 Physical Pain comes from an obvious cause—an injury, a medical condition, inflammation, or structural damage.

🔹 Subconscious/Emotional Pain comes from messages your mind is holding onto. These messages can come from past trauma, guilt, fear, unresolved stress, or even something someone once said to you. Your subconscious doesn’t know the difference between emotional and physical pain—it just knows something feels “wrong” and tries to protect you.

For example:

  • Someone expecting childbirth to be painful (due to stories or media) may unconsciously create tension and fear—both of which amplify pain.

  • Someone carrying guilt might subconsciously “punish” themselves with chronic pain in their back, joints, or stomach.

  • A person may take on physical pain to create connection, mimic a loved one’s illness, or avoid a situation they subconsciously don’t feel safe in.

The subconscious is illogical—but powerful. And pain is one of its loudest tools.

A Balanced, Responsible Approach to Pain Management

Let me be clear:
I do not aim to eliminate pain that serves a protective medical function.

Pain is a messenger. If it’s tied to an injury, infection, or condition that needs attention, we respect it. For example:

  • A broken bone reminds you not to walk on it.

  • A migraine may signal something your doctor needs to investigate.

We don’t shut those messengers off—we simply help you calm the volume so your body can heal without unnecessary suffering.

But if pain is subconscious in origin—if your body is sending distress signals long after the danger has passed—then yes, that pain can often be eliminated entirely.

A Few Real-Life Examples:

  • A woman with knee pain realized she was subconsciously resisting her husband’s weekend hikes. When we resolved the conflict, the pain disappeared.

  • A man experiencing heart palpitations traced it back to guilt after a friend’s sudden passing—his body was trying to “hold the same pain.”

  • A client’s persistent shoulder pain linked back to carrying the emotional weight of family responsibilities—far beyond what was hers to carry.

When we uncover what the pain is trying to say, and offer the subconscious a better solution, the pain no longer needs to shout.

My Approach: Mind-Body Hypnotherapy for Pain

Together, we’ll explore both:

🌀 Physical Sensation
We use hypnosis techniques to reduce the intensity of the sensation—making it more manageable, tolerable, and less disruptive to your life.

🌀 Subconscious Messaging
We uncover what your pain might be protecting you from or trying to express. Then, we help your subconscious find a new, healthier way to meet that need.

🌀 Whole-Person Relief
When we work on both the symptom and the source, pain fades naturally. You don’t have to fight it—it lets go.
