Manifesting When Everything Goes Wrong: Are You Gaslighting Yourself?

Manifesting when everything goes wrong can leave you questioning yourself. You have a clear vision of the life you want. You’re doing the inner work. You’re taking action.
And everything around you seems to be going in the opposite direction.
You’re imagining freedom. Your bank account is suggesting otherwise.
You’re picturing a beautiful new chapter. Meanwhile, your current chapter has overdue bills and a plot twist you certainly didn’t order.
At what point does holding onto your vision start to feel like gaslighting yourself?
I know that question. I’ve lived it.
Why Manifesting When Everything Goes Wrong Can Feel So Confusing
When Ozz and I were working toward leaving Canada and creating a new life in Mexico, I knew what I wanted.
Sunshine and palm trees were part of it, of course. But underneath that, I wanted freedom, creativity, and more choices about how we lived.
Our circumstances weren’t exactly cheering us on.
Money became frighteningly tight. Opportunities took longer than we hoped. We were creating, making calls, sending proposals, and trying things, while wondering how we were going to cover ordinary expenses.
I could see the life I wanted. I could also see the bills.
So what was I supposed to focus on?
Manifestation advice often tells us to hold the vision, feel as though we already have what we want, and stop focusing on lack.
That sounds lovely until you’re standing in the grocery store calculating what you can afford.
Then it becomes a very real question: How do I believe in something different without lying to myself about what’s happening now?
Can You Trust Your Vision and Still Look at the Evidence?
I don’t think we should have to pretend we’re fine when we’re frightened, or ignore a problem because acknowledging it might “lower our vibration.”
But I also know how quickly a difficult situation can become a verdict about our entire future.
“This hasn’t worked yet” turns into “This will never work.”
“I don’t know how” turns into “There is no way.”
During our journey, I had to keep asking myself whether I was responding to what was actually happening or to the frightening story I was telling myself about what it meant.
And sometimes I needed to change my approach. Holding a vision didn’t make every idea a good idea or every opportunity the right one.
That’s the messy middle I want to talk about. The space where you still want what you want, but you have no idea how it’s going to happen.
How do you keep going there?
Let’s Talk About It on Chats with Witchy
Join me for the first episode of Chats with Witchy on YouTube, Wednesday, October 7, 2026, at 3 p.m. Eastern.
I’ll share some of our story and the ideas that helped me hold onto the life I wanted while dealing with circumstances that seemed to contradict it.
We’ll talk about doubt, the subconscious mind, and how to stay open to possibility when your current reality is making a very convincing argument against it.
I’ll also give you a free Evidence Log tool to help you see more clearly what’s happening in your own journey, especially when fear seems to be doing all the talking.
If you’ve ever wondered whether you’re being hopeful or fooling yourself, this conversation is for you.
Bring your questions and the dream you’re finding difficult to believe in right now. I’d love to hear what you’re trying to create.
